Expectations

For the fifth part of a movie to come out, there has to be as much audience support for that movie and the characters. Sethurama iyer CBl character is one of the most popular in Kerala society. The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word CBl is Mammootty, who is wearing a saffron scarf on his forehead and walking with his hands tied behind his back.

After the first part of 1988, today when Sethurama iyer enters with the fifth part, there are a lot of things that make the fans sad. In a world that has changed over time, the question remains whether Sethurama iyer will survive in 2022.

There are some things that add strength to that question,One of them is that veteran director K Madhu is out of form. All the recent films he has directed have been failures. Screenwriter SN Swami has also enjoyed success for a long time. But they cannot be written off,they are Legends. One movie is enough to change everything.
After the all time blockbuster Bheeshma Parvam –Mammootty, Iconic Sethurama iyer and music director Jakes Bejoy are the main elements who invite the audience to the theater before its release.

What works

Mammootty-Saikumar‘s brilliant performances are the main factor to note. Especially Saikumar, deserves credit for his excellent performance in the role despite being exhausted by physical problems.At the main point of the story, Jagathy’s presence in the guest role after a while was an asset to the film. Jakes bejoy done good job with his background score.

What not works

SN Swami has come up with an out dated screenplay for the Malayalee audience who are looking for the best thrillers in the world. With the out dated making of Veteran director K Madhu, the audience feels that the film should have come out 25 years ago.The twists and turns that are presented go through without making any impact on the film.With the addition of flat narration, the film fails as a thriller and failure is complete when the climax ends without the wow factor.The much-vaunted “Basket killing method” went unnoticed and disappeared into obscurity.

Often the performance of the actors was over-dramatic, and the conversations were riddled with repetitive boredom
