Theerppu is an Malayalam movie, directed by Rathish Ambat and will feature Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Isha Talwar and Murali Gopy as lead characters. Other popular actors who were roped in for Theerppu are Saiju Kurup and Vijay Babu.
Expectations
Theerppu – A Prithviraj film after consecutive super hits , After the industry hit Lucifer, Murali Gopi-Prithvi combo, After Kammara Sambavam, Ratheesh Ambat‘s directorial venture . It is strange that the movie has not been able to create much hype despite the above features.
What works
Murali Gopi has succeeded not only in telling politics but also in creating layers by interweaving them with storylines. Sparkling dialogues also supported it. Saiju Kurup scored while other actors suffered from screen time limitations.
What not works
Many of the title characters are limited to cameos. Prithviraj‘s title character was often half-baked with an unclear past. Because of that, the emotional cord was broken without getting an emotional connection. Vijay Babu often spoils the character by being over dramatic.
The writer Murali Gopi fails to create a convincing plot even while making the politics clear. Theerppu also failed to create enough reasons for the protagonist’s revenge against the co-characters. All there was a song, and that too is torture for the audience. Often Theerppu is confined within four walls, reminding us to treat cinema only as an OTT product.

Politics works but not the plot !!!
