Expectations

A Nivin Pauly movie finally hitting the theaters after three years of waiting.
After action hero Biju and 1983 director Abrid Shine – Nivin Pauly combo has high hopes for the movie. With the addition of Asif Ali, the film has managed to create a fair amount of hype despite not having received the kind of reception that previous Nivin Pauly films have receive. Also the time traveling fantasy mood, which is not familiar to Malayalam cinema given the trailer, will benefit the opening of the movie.

What works

A brilliant message, tries to convey as an experimental film deserves applause. One line comedy in some situations worked out in first half of the movie. Ishan chabra‘s music work was also good .
All the leading actors played their roles perfectly. Shanvi‘s decision to take on a bold role deserves appreciation.

What not works

Mahaveeryar that fails by presenting a great idea in a way that is not acceptable in any way. The second half of the film completely misfired. When the director finished one of the two stories he had started, the audience was left sighing at a failed experimental film..

The film lacked the good visuals required for fantasy films. The high drama of the conversation seemed to resonate. Asif Ali seemed miscast in many situations.

Bottomline
