Drishyam 3 is a Malayalam-language crime thriller film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas, the film is a sequel to Drishyam 2 (2021) and the third installment in the Drishyam film series. The film stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil,Murali Gopy, Siddique, and Asha Sarath reprising their roles from the previous two instalments.
Drishyam 3 begins exactly where Drishyam 2 closed the chapter, which raises expectations. But for the next two hours, the film goes nowhere. The pacing is painfully slow, and the narration feels like a tele-serial. Every plot point is over-explained, with spoon-feeding that insults the audienceβs intelligence and kills the tension the franchise was built on.
The biggest letdown is Georgekutty. Jeethu Joseph turned him into a chess master across two films, yet here heβs just a passive viewer. He has no agency, no clever moves, and no real purpose to drive the story. Other character arcs from the prequels are also bent or broken, clearly injected only to force a sequel setup.
Technically, the film is dull. The cinematography lacks the moody, grounded texture of the first two parts and instead looks flat, like a daily soap. The background score is forgettable and adds nothing to an already lifeless script. Thereβs no sense of atmosphere or dread.
Overall Drishyam 3 is the Weakest film in the franchise. it tried to elevate with some twists and turns but turned out to be impactless. None of them hit like the Varun cover-up or the police station reveal from the earlier films.
Bottomline
Weakest film in the franchise.!!
