Monster is a crime action film directed by Vysakh, written by Udaykrishna, and produced by Antony Perumbavoor through Aashirvad Cinemas. The film stars Mohanlal as Lucky Singh, along with Lakshmi Manchu, Lena, Honey Rose, Siddique, Sudev Nair, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, and Johny Antony. The original music was composed by Deepak Dev.
Expectations
Monster is the Vysakh-Mohanlal collaboration film after the industry hit Pulimurugan. It’s time for Mohanlal, who is reeling from successive failures, to desperately need a hit. Vysakh and writer Udayakrishna‘s track record after Pulimurugan defies expectations. Monster is also a film of Aashirvad Cinemas which will be released by Low Promotion after Drishyam.
What works
Honey Rose and Manchu Lakshmi deserve applause for their performance and the courage they showed to be the characters. Deepak Dev‘s background score was excellent, especially during the action scenes. Stunt Siva‘s action sequences were good even though they did not benefit the film.
What not works
Monster deals with a subject that other film industries have tackled many times. But director Vysakh tries the audience’s patience by presenting it very lazily. The constant double meaning jokes in Udayakrishna scripts were headache-inducing. The interesting thing is that writer Udayakrishna has written many movies with the same twist in the recent times. Monster didn’t survive the social media discussions about the film and story and hence the film cannot do justice to the thriller genre due to predictability. Monster also witnesses an over dramatic performance by the great actor Mohanlal in the first half.Even if he did better in the second half.

Predictable thriller,ruined by lazy writing!!!
