Hridayapoorvam is a Malayalam-language romantic drama film directed by Sathyan Anthikad from a screenplay by Sonu T. P., based on a story by Akhil Sathyan. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas, the film stars Mohanlal, Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, and Sangeeth Prathap, along with Siddique, Lalu Alex, Janardhanan, Sabitha Anand, Baburaj, Nishan and S. P. Charan in other substantial roles.

This film is a predictable feel-good drama that unfortunately struggles with forced situations, making it feel somewhat contrived. The template, seemingly influenced by Sathyan Anthikad’s style, doesn’t quite fit, leading to a narrative that drags pointlessly to the end.
Despite these drawbacks, the on-screen combo of Mohanlal and Sangeeth Prathap shines through, making the film somewhat watchable.

The chemistry between Mohanlal and Sangeeth Prathap is undeniable, and their performances elevate the film despite its flaws. Their interactions are genuine, and their presence on screen makes the viewing experience more enjoyable. It’s clear that the Sangeeth Prathap and Mohanlal combo works more effectively than Sathyan Anthikad’s writing and direction, which seems to be holding the film back.

However, certain character inclusions feel out of place. Actors like Lalu Alex, Siddique, and Janardhanan seem to be forcibly injected into the plot, disrupting the narrative flow. Their presence doesn’t add significant value to the story, and their characters feel like unnecessary additions.

The cameos in the film are also underwhelming and fail to leave a lasting impact. They seem to be included without much thought, and their presence doesn’t contribute to the overall narrative.

Malavika Mohanan’s performance is another letdown. Her lip sync issues are noticeable, and her portrayal comes across as immature. Her acting doesn’t quite gel with the rest of the film. It’s disappointing, given the potential of the story and the presence of talented actors like Mohanlal and Sangeeth Prathap.

Ultimately, the film feels like a missed opportunity. With some tighter writing and direction, this could have been a more impactful film. The predictability and forced elements detract from the viewing experience, making it a watchable that’s salvaged by the chemistry and performances of its lead actors.

Bottomline

Mohanlal – Sangeeth Prathap combo makes it watchable!!
