Marco is a Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Haneef Adeni. The film stars Unni Mukundan in the titular role, alongside Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Yukti Thareja, Riyaz Khan, Jinu Joseph, Sreejith Ravi and Kabir Duhan Singh. The music was composed by Ravi Basrur, while cinematography and editing were handled by Chandru Selvaraj and Shameer Muhammed.

Marco’s poster campaign has been a major driving force behind the film’s immense hype, with audiences eagerly awaiting a movie like this for a long time. With its graphic content, Marco earns its reputation as the most violent movie ever produced in India.

Unni Mukundan is the biggest asset for the film, delivering stylish looks, mass mannerisms, and impressive action sequences. His hard work and dedication are evident throughout the film. The hero introduction and all action blocks are designed spectacularly with mass elevations. Ravi Basrur’s music perfectly complements Unni Mukundan’s screen presence, creating an explosive combination.

Director Haneef Adeni’s masterclass violence is unmatched, and Chandru Selvaraj’s cinematography deserves special mention for its tone and exceptional work in the blood-pumping action sequences. Kalai Kingson’s action blocks are terrific and a milestone in Mollywood’s violence department.

The film’s narrative is divided into two halves, with the first half focusing on character buildup and introductions, albeit with a slightly fast-paced narration. However, the second half more than makes up for it with its brutal and adrenaline-rushing action sequences. The single-shot stairway fight is a standout scene, and fans of single-take shots will love it.

While the dialogues are sharp and effective, the lead actress’s character feels unnecessary and lacks logical placement in the narrative. Yukthi Tareja struggles with expressions, making her character even more forgettable. Furthermore, the excessive violence by the villain in a 20-minute sequence feels unbearable and gratuitous. Additionally, Unni Mukundan’s cigar becomes repetitive, losing its impact by the climax.

In conclusion, Marco is a must-watch in theaters for its engaging action sequences and Unni Mukundan’s swag. However, viewer discretion is advised due to graphic content. With some minor adjustments, Marco could have been even more impactful. Nevertheless, it’s a thrilling ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Bottomline

The most violent movie ever produced in India!! Strictly for 18+.
Ravi Basrur poured petrol again and again on the fire called Unni Mukundan and burnt it by director Haneef Adeni.
