There was a time, foreigners used to think that Indian cinema meant Bollywood. At that time when other language industries were just shadows. off course, Bollywood is the biggest industry in Indian cinema. But Bollywood is struggling, all the movies released after the post Covid season are failing miserably, but the dubbed other language movies are reaping crores..

What happened to Bollywood?

It is a fact can’t be hidden that the Covid era and the global downturn have also changed the tastes of moviegoers. During this period, Indians have sought out and watched many language films, and therefore their approach to cinema has also changed. Not only have many big budget films released in recent times failed miserably at the box office, many have been forgotten on their first days.

Akshay Kumar films like Bacchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Rakshabandhan, Ram sethu etc. are films that fell in the first days. Other big budget films like Shahid kapoor‘s Jersey, Tiger shroff‘s Heropanti2 and Ajay devgn‘s Thank God failed miserably at the box office.
Aamir Khan‘s Laal Sing Chadha, which was last hope of Bollywood with high expectations, also failed miserably in its first days. It is also remarkable that even Vikram Vedha, which was impressive with the casting of Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik roshan , fell in the first few days. Ranbir Kapoor‘s Shamshera also flopped at the box office in its opening days.

Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna and Shah Rukh Khan was the only film that brought relief to Bollywood during this era. However, due to the over-budget, Brahmastra failed to collect in favor of the budget and caused only loss to the producer.

During this period Bollywood was relieved by two films. The small film Kashmir Files, which came out without expectations, collected around Rs 300 crores. Karthik Aryan‘s Bhool Bulaiya 2 is also a successful film that broke out of expectations. Even though Brahmastra remains the highest grossing film in Bollywood in recent times, the budget has become the villain of the film.

Once upon a time, Bollywood was counting on 100 crores, 200 crores and 300 crores clubs, today it is trying to achieve at least one success. What is the reason for this situation? Let’s discuss in the next section..
