What works

Let’s start by talking about Varisu’s emotional content. The film is quite heavy on moral values, Credit should go to Vamshi paidipalli for sticking to the content and sending out a strong message through hero’s character. Vijay is majestic in his role and gives his old days performance. His role is tailor made and Vijay carries the entire film on his shoulders. He looks dashing as a CEO and the way he brings out varied emotions through out is a class apart.

Rashmika mandanna gets a meaty role and is quite decent in the film. Sarath kumar is a royal in his role and gives the added edge to the film. The way his character is etched out and all his confrontation scenes with Vijay and Jaya sudha are superb. Yogi Babu – Vijay combo elevated more to generate some entertainment.

First half of the film is quite vibrant and has some very classy moments. Second half has mass moments and added some Vijay formula. Production values of the film are quite good and showcase the film in a rich light. Camerawork Karthik Palani is top class as all the visuals look rich. The way he has showcased the family and buisness atmosphere is pretty good. Fights need special mention as they look quite good and have been choreographed very stylishly.

S Thaman’s music is pretty good and grows on you once you watch his songs on screen. But it is Thaman’s background score which elevates the film to another level. Dialogues are novel and will connect with the common man quite easily.

Coming to the director Vamshi Paidipalli, he has done an awesome job and showcased Vijay like never before. The way he brings out a settled performance and presents Vijay in an emotional avatar is quite endearing. Vamshi narrates the film with perfect festival package and injects some meaningful family moments which will surely go well with everyone.

What doesn’t work

One of the drawbacks of the film is the pace as the proceedings take their own time. 2hr 50min length is also a big problem. There are certain scenes which could have been edited to make the film crisp. The story is cleched, it is also predictable in nature and follows 90’s formula. Scene by scene feels Dejavu and very common in CEO brand telugu cinemas.

Too many actors like Prakash Raj, Shyam, Srikanth, Ganesh Venkata Raman are wasted their role and does not get any impactfull screen time. Rashmika mandanna is just for a time pass and got 3 song to step with hero.

Bottomline

Cleched family drama, Emotionally works!!
