Contrary to the norm, 2022 is the year where Kannada cinema industry is ahead of other industries and perhaps landmark year for sandalwood. Two Kannada films entering the top 10 highest grossers list of Indian cinema in 2022 and a turning point in the history of Kannada cinema.
It was also the year that Sandalwood earned the title of highest grossing Indian film with KGF:Chapter 2 grossing more than 1200 crores worldwide.
