Beast is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Nelson and produced by Sun Pictures. The film stars Vijay and Pooja Hegde, while Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley play supporting roles. It revolves around a spy’s crusade to rescue people held hostage in a shopping mall by terrorists.
Beast is scheduled for theatrical release on 13 April 2022, in the week of Puthandu. Apart from Tamil, the film will have dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, with the Hindi version titled Raw. The distribution rights for Tamil Nadu are held by Red Giant Movies. The Telugu version is distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations, Suresh Productions and Asian Cinemas, the Malayalam version by Magic Frames, the Kannada version by Dheeraj Enterprises, and the Hindi version by UFO Moviez. Ayngaran International holds the overseas distribution rights, except for Singapore and Gulf where the rights are with Home Screen Entertainment. The film was banned from releasing in Kuwait, though an official explanation was not provided.
Even before the theatrical release of the film, the first look poster which released on 21 June 2021, shared through Vijay’s official Twitter account was the most liked and retweeted tweet in the entertainment section, according to a survey report by Twitter. It was also the only Tamil-language film to be listed at the Top 10 Anticipated Indian Movies of 2022 by IMDb. The Beast trailer was the most viewed in Southern India on YouTube with more than 30 million views.
The main reason for the humanganeous hype surrounding Beast is that Vijay‘s films have not failed at box office since the failure of Bhairava , which was released in January 2017. After Bhairava , films like Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil and Master have grossed over Rs 250 crore at boxoffice. Sarkar, content wise disappointed the audience but set many collection records in Kollywood , still holds the record for the first day collection in Tamil Nadu. Bigil is the biggest hit of Vijay’s career with a collection of over 300 crores. Beast is targeting those records of Sarkar and Bigil. It is almost certain that Beast will own the first day collection records in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Vijay’s box office consistency and director Nelson’s track record make Beast an audience favorite. Following the success of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor, the film is being directed by Nelson, so expectations are high for Beast. The technical quality provided by the released trailer also takes the film to the heights of expectations.
The soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander,who gilded everything he touched. This film eventually marked Anirudh’s third collaboration with Vijay after Kaththi (2014) and Master (2021), and with Nelson after Kolamaavu Kokila (2018) and Doctor.As of March 2022, two songs were released as singles from the album. The first single from the album, titled “Arabic Kuthu” released on 14 February 2022, coinciding with Valentine’s Day.The song set the record for the most-viewed and liked South Indian song within 24 hours. The second single, “Jolly O Gymkhana” was released on 19 March 2022. The third single, “Beast Mode” was released on 8 April 2022.it also turned out to be a chartbuster.
Beast enriched by such a combination expects the goal of being a non 2.O grosser. Trade People expects ,BEAST-the all-time biggest release of Kollywood to hit 80 crore plus on its first day.
