Expectations
RRR, the most expensive movie in the history of Indian cinema. which was announced after Bahubali, has since become one of the hot topics in Indian cinema.
Expectations are high, because the film is directed by cosmic director SS Rajmouli. who was confined to the Telugu market, has grown into a showman of Indian cinema After the success of the Bahubali franchise,The director aims for 12th continued success in his undefeated career.
The combo of Ram Charan and NTR is one of the high hopes for the film. SS Rajmouli- senthilkumar -Keeravani -vijeyandraprasad Bahubali combo also increases the weight of hope. With the presence of Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Alia bhatt, Hollywood stars Alison Doody (Bond girl in A View to a Kill 1985) & Ray Store Stevenson (Thor, Transporter), the film became a favorite with Bollywood-overseas markets. RRR’s pre-theatrical buzz is 580 crore, the biggest pre-release business in Indian cinema history.
What works
There are way too many things that impress you in RRR but it is practically impossible to pen all of them down in this review. Let me start by talking about the gigantic scale of the film. It is huge in every aspect. Every visual of the film is filled with surprises either in terms of graphics or the extravagant sets that have been put up.
In a film like this the film maker can take creative liberties to esure a jump or a dive has the grace and appeal of ballet performance. But while at it one has to hold a fine balance between reality and fantasy. so every move or gesture has to be surreal yet believable.so the scenes used wild animals and climax fantacy portions are terrifyingly real despite being entirely product of computer graphics.
Credit should go to SS Rajamouli for taking Indian films to another level with his mind blowing story telling. The way he has induced a terrific bond between NTR – Ramcharan is the major asset of the film. The best part of the film is the elaborate fight sequence that plays out in the interval block. The ostentatious sets, breathtaking montage shots of the british residence ,wild animals and the sheer scale of the action scene stand out.
NTR and Ramcharan have worked hard on their physique and the effort is evident in their action scenes. Ramcharan unleashes his beastly side in the second half and takes away your senses with his striking performance. From the first scene, his screen presence is top notch. NTR terrific in emotional and action scenes. His introduction scene is one of the best in Indian Cinema. At the climax, both of them were like lions coming out of a cage. Ajay Devgn done good job in his meaty role.
What not works
For a film 3hour long and there are certain areas in the film where pace gets slow and some unforced drama overtakes the proceedings. The first half ivests way to much time in establishing characters and the bond between NTR and Ramcharan. Some minor logical errors also in story. Alia bhatt is hardly seen in the film and only appears two or three scenes . Except Bheem-Ram no characters have depth.
Technical side
Technically, the movie is outstanding and every money spent (It’s said to be most expensive Indian film) on the mind blowing CGI and VFX reflects on screen.
Every frame of RRR is SS Rajamouli’s creation, At times, you just wonder how did he perceive all this in his mind and execute it in such a convincing manner. Technicians like him are rare and Telugu folks should be proud that our own director has gone ahead and proved that nothing is impossible. he has surely done India and the film fraternity proud Aagain with RRR. He has dreamt of something out of the box and has also succeeded in bringing life to Indiaβs biggest motion picture.
MM Keeravani‘s songs are good and Background score of this film has been excellent and it keeps the audience enthralled and entertained. Every time lead characters and their powerful screen presence gets elevated with magnificent BGM.
The film boasts stunning photography. The visual effects are for the most part fantastic. The action sequences are jaw-dropping, and the stunts amazing.
Bottomline
SS Rajamouli never disappoints . Innovative ideas and terrific execution, enough to make a visual impact.
