Maaveeran is a  Tamil-language political action thriller film written and directed by Madonne Ashwin, of Mandela (2021) fame, and produced by Arun Viswa. The film stars an ensemble cast featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Aditi Shankar in the lead role, while Mysskin, Yogi Babu, Sunil, Saritha and Monisha Blessy in the supporting roles.

Maaveeran is a film directed by Madonne Ashwin after Mandela, who gave importance to satirical comedy with a socio-political angle. In his second outing Maaveeran,The plot and characters interact with the audience right from the very first frame and draw them into the story. Later, Madonna Ashwin presents innumerable high points by adding comedy and interesting fantasy elements to the situation without boring the audience. Ashwin’s terrific execution is reinforced by Bharat shankar’s music, and Vidhu Ayyanna’s camera work cements the film’s cohesion like concrete. Yannick ben’s action scenes are a new sight for Tamil cinema, as they are adapted to the story situations. The intense action scenes in the climax roared the theatre. After a great first half and interval bang, even if it lags behindMadonna’s execution wins Maaveeran by giving the film the support and shade it needs.

Sivakarthikeyan rocks throughout the film as the innocent young man and with his dynamism in the action scenes. After a while, Tamil cinema has had another supporting actress. Saritha made their comeback great. Aditi Shankar played the character beautifully, even though it was a limited role. Myskin is a director who is an asset to Tamil cinema, but what Myskin delivers here is the epitome of entertainment. He is Terrific as an antagonist. Myskin inΒ  Maveeran offers as much entertainment as Prakash Raj’s Paal Pandi in Gilli.

Sivakarthikeyan’s starrer Maaveeran is an exception among fantasy superhero films, which are continuously failing in the Tamil cinema world.

Bottomline

A proper fantasy film is a winner in all aspects: comedy, fantasy, action, emotion& execution.
