King of Kotha is a movie starring Dulquer Salmaan,Prasanna,Anikha, Aishwarya Lekshmi,Nyla Usha,Gokul Suresh and Dancing Rose. Directed by Abhilash Joshi and produced by Wayfarer Films, Current sensation Jakes Bejoy (Por Thozhil) has done the background score. Rorschach-Kurup‘s eye-catching visuals are handled by Nimish Ravi; he handled the camera, and Kantara fame Arvind Kashyap is handling the camera for the climax action block. Action scenes are choreographed by Rajashekhar, who worked in Billa 2, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, etc. King of Kotha offers current trending technicians and presents the audience with the burden of excessive expectations.

King of Kotha, Dulquer’s malayalam theatre release after a gap of 2 years. Dulquer’s film comes after Kurup, a blockbuster released in 2021. In the meantime, other language films like Chup (Hindi)and Sita Ramam (Telugu) expanded Dulquer’s market. Dulquer Salmaan, whom fans call DQ, is perhaps the only actor in Malayalam cinema who has a grip on the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi markets. Even though he has done more than 35 films in his career, he has not given his hand to full-fledged action movies to date. Trade reckons that the mass action film at the peak of his career is Dulquer‘s stepping stone to setting the box office on fire and reaching stardom.

Even before its release, King of Kotha has broken all the pre-release records of Mollywood. The released trailers and songs became the fuel for that blaze. While the Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada-South industries are engaged in Pan Indian films, Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and Zee Studios have already proven before its release that King of Kotha is a film that can be described as a Malayalam movie in the Pan Indian market. Dulquer’s All India Markets helped in the said journey.

Trade is expected to have the biggest opening in the history of Malayalam cinema. If Dulquer‘s last Malayalam release, Kurup, collected more than Rs 20 crore worldwide on its first day, it will not be surprising if King of Kotha crosses the Rs 30 crore mark on its first day. It is clear from the pre-booking that it is the biggest single-day collection in Kerala, as set by KGF Chapter 2. If there is a positive report in the initial days, King of Kotha will have the first 10 crore plus opening in the history of the Kerala box office.
Let’s wait for the entry of Malayalam into the pan-India market and for the verdict on August 24th..
