Kathal – A Jackfruit Mystery is a Hindi-language satirical comedy drama film written by Ashok Mishra and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra for Netflix.The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Achin Jain under the banners Balaji Motion Pictures and Sikhya Entertainment. The film features Sanya Malhotra, Anant V Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Brijendra Kala and Neha Saraf in lead roles.

Kathal is a police investigation drama presented in the Socio-Political Journal with a touch of satire. The film criticises the political situation and police-political relations in contemporary India with a touch of comedy.

Although the narrative is strong, the film is often hampered by executive lapses. The excellent performances of the actors keep the movie going to some extent. Many story moments that could have been developed are left as wet crackers. The fact that the music of the film does justice to the genre and is presented at ground level is also a positive side of the film.

 A fun-filled police investigation drama falls short due to poor execution.
