Jiivi 2 is a Tamil Feature Film starring Vetri , Rohini Molleti , Karunakaran , Mime Gopi and more. The movie is directed by VJ Gopinath , and produced by Suresh Kamatchi, V House Production. Jiivi 2 is a sequel of 2019 super hit film Jiivi from the same team.
Expectations
Actor Vetri made a noticeable debut in ‘8 Thottakkal’ and his second film ‘Jiivi’ directed by V.J. Gopinath came without much expectation. But what greets in the theatres is an intelligent little film that culminates to a largely satisfying climax and turned out to be a super hit . That’s the main reason behind the makers coming up with sequel, and kollywood movie lovers have much curiosity on jiivi 2 because of Jiivi ends with some missing dots.
What works
Perfect sequel that takes forward the story of the first part very well. The core concept has been used effectively. Proper continuity and nice recap in Title card are effective. The narrative is so clear, not wanting to be complicated without deviating from the actual plot, connecting the previous dots, mainly not screaming the propaganda to watch Jiivi1 worked well and good.
Director V.J. Gopinath has chosen a truly different and interesting subject triangle theory for Jiivi and same style continued for jiivi 2 and has executed it fairly well enough to buy him a place among the best of new age filmmakers of Tamil cinema.
A lot of films hurry up in introducing the concept to the viewer first up, afraid that they may not be able to connect to it later. But with Jiivi 2‘s brave narrative pattern, we are introduced to the clues slowly in the background, and made to solve the case on our own before we are given the answers. The intelligence of the hero resonates well with the audience, therefore the connect is maintained throughout and the films keeps us invested throughout.
What not works
This sequel tries to be like Jiivi in many ways but it’s nowhere near it. Follows the same prequel pattern, but most of the time failed to creates the what-next curiosity due to couldn’t avoid predictability in places since we know well about Triangle theory. Overall impact is less compared to Part 1 though.
Bottomline
Overall impact is less compared to Part1, Still a neat and watchable sequel!!!!
