Jigarthanda DoubleX is a Indian Tamil-language period action comedy film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It was produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, S. Kathiresan, and Alankar Pandian, under Stone Bench Films, Five Star Creations, and Invenio Origin. The film is a spiritual successor to Jigarthanda (2014) and stars Raghava Lawrence and S. J. Suryah in the lead roles
As the name suggests, this is the second film in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Jigarthanda franchise. A proper film that structurally and intentionally does justice to the first part. In the climax,The movie says that there is more to say; this is just the beginning; Asault Sethu was born.it is clear that Double X is a prequel to the first part.
Coming to the story, the second part has the clear message that ”cinema is the ultimate weapon”. Karthik Subbaraj’s mark making changes the colour of the movie itself. Double X is also the most political film of Karti Subbaraj’s career. Every scene you see has a purpose, experimenting on the grounds of realism and relativity. With a list of actors, tonnes of shots, and hundreds of applause-evoking dialogues, Jigarthanda is a beautifully orchestrated story. Thirunavakkarasu’s cinematography illuminates the story to the fullest, giving the much-needed tone and grit to the story. Shafiq muhmad ali’s cuts deal with the rugged shot divisions smoothly to interlink the footage and the intentional narration. so much to tell, the crispy first half lands on a more detailed second half. The emotional charge of the last 40 minutes is the heart and soul of the movie.
Somebody like Raghava Lawrence agreeing to be a part of a movie deserves special mention. A new angle for his professionalism and effortless acting comprehends his character. especially that climax. SJ Suryah, playing a different role considering his previous outings, nailed it as usual.
Santhosh Narayanan’s music work will be talked about in the future. His background score will be dissected, explored, and analysed in blogs and micro-blogs. Undoubtedly, Jigarthanda doubleX is his best film to date. The last 40 minutes witnessed innovative sounds and fantastic orchestration. Dilip Subbarayan’s action blocks are impressive. The elephant hunt action blocks stand out and are the best in the arena.
The only complaint that can possibly be raised against the movie is its 3-hour length. But Karthik’s ability to make us glued to the seats with vicious cycles of extremely interesting twists and turns is truly outstanding.
Bottomline
A karthik Subbaraj politics,Worth watch!!
