Jawan is a Hindi-language action thriller film co-written and directed by Atlee, in his first Hindi film. It is produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role, alongside Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone (billed as a special appearance), Priyamani and Sanya Malhotra.
What works
Atlee doesn’t always have brilliant stories and situations in hand, and the Atlee brand commercial package usually makes up for these shortcomings. The same formula works in Jawan as well. GK Vishnu frames ,Shah Rukh Khan in different getups against Anirudh’s electrifying background, which makes the film look stunning. G. K. Vishnu’s camera angles not only gave a rich feel to the visuals of the film but also raised the quality of the film in the action scenes.
Anirudh’s electrifying BGM during the action scenes evokes new possibilities for Mass Elevations and presents theatrical moments. His BGM made the evry mass scene so impactful and perfectly elevated Shah Rukh Khan throughout the movie.
Atlee Mark’s social issues and dialogues are emotionally connected, and the girls gang was one of the positive sides of Jawan. In the girls gang, everyone nailed it with terrific performances. Vijay Sethupathi played the villain; Deepika’s cameo and Nayanthara’s throughout role were important in the film.Shahrukh’s badass mass role, some surprising elements related to it, and the intro and pre-interval blocks are the backbone of Jawan.
What doesn’t work?
By selecting only regular events that can be discussed on social media, Atlee creates a hero who fights against social issues here as well. The South audience will not be able to digest the inextricable connection with the situations and key scenes of the previous Tamil blockbuster films. Many situations are too silly and illogical to fail. Jawan also witnesses the cliche situations that follow Bollywood films.
There is nothing new to say in terms of story, and the social message that is being said unnecessarily is to be doubted, whether the movie demands it or not. While the stories of two of the girls in the gang have explanations, being without a story, characters like Priya Mani remain in the film. Unnecessary dragging and a running time of almost three hours are causing headaches for the audience.
Bottomline
Mix of south blockbuster films but still entertaining because of Atlee’s commercial package ,Anirudh electrifying Bgm & SRK’sĀ Mass avatar.
