Iratta is a Malayalam drama movie written and directed by Rohit MG Krishnan. The film stars Anjali, Joju George, Srinda and Arya Salim in the lead roles.

Touted to be a thriller, Iratta will feature actor Joju Goerge in a dual role. The film marks Tamil actor Anjali‘s return to the Malayalam film industry.

The film is produced by Joju George jointly with Martin Prakkat and Sijo Vadakkan. It also marks the reunion between Martin and Joju after ‘Nayattu‘. The cinematography of the film is handled by Vijay and the editing is done by Manu Antony. Jakes Bejoy composed the music for the film.

What works

After the police thrillers Nayattu and Joseph, Iratta is a thriller set in Joju‘s police milieu. As the name suggests, the film tells the story of twins, and Joju plays both lead roles. The first half of the movie is spent on Joju‘s shoulder. The film is told as an engaged family drama in an investigative mood by framing the plot. The final 20ā€“30 minutes were the life of the movie, and the unexpected climax gave the movie a Korean touch.

Joju‘s excellent double role is the main highlight of the movie. Anjali was perfect casting for the movie. Supporting roads were also excellent. The unexpected Daring climax is unusual in Malayalam cinema, which makes Iratta more appealing.

What doesn’t work

Iratta would have been one of the best thrillers Malayalam cinema has ever seen if the focus on character creation and bonding had been shown to close the film’s loopholes. Even though all the evidence is in hand, the truths that are revealed only when the hero steps into the scene are the main drawback of such a serious thriller. Srindaa, who came as a minister, filled her acting with drama and became Miss Cast.

Bottomline

Daring attempt!!
