A king who once dominated Indian cinema comes to reclaim his broken empire, that is the definition given to trade Pathaan. That definition is true in every sense. After a long gap of four years, Shah Rukh, who is plagued by continuous failures, is coming with Pathaan. That four year gap is waiting for a good story. It is no exaggeration to say that Bollywood wants this comeback more than Shah Rukh. The truth is that Bollywood can reach its former glory only with a big hit. Despite having a number of hits, Trade looks like a hit reminiscent of the glory days.
The main factor is the director Siddharth Anand, who raises the expectations of the trade and the audience to sky high. Siddharth has directed stylish action blockbusters like War and Bang Bang etc. The said Shah Rukh Khan-Sidharth combo is the main reason why expectations have been building up since the announcement of the film. Hype skyrocketed when Deepika Padukone‘s entry as the heroine and John Abraham‘s presence as the villain in the film. The track record of Shah Rukh – Yash Raj Films team and the trailers of the film gave mileage to the hype. The political controversies over the song scenes of the film also fueled the expectations like adding fuel to the burning fire. By doing justice to the hype, the film beat War in advance bookings and set a record. The only other Indian films ahead of Pathaan in advance bookings are Bahubali 2 and Kgf 2. Bollywood is expecting an industry hit and a royal return of the king when the film hits the theaters in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages across the globe this Republic weekend.
