KGF: Chapter 2 is an upcoming Indian Kannada language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale Films. The second instalment of the two-part series is a sequel to the 2018 film K.G.F: Chapter 1. The film stars Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj.
KGF: Chapter 1, which was released without any hype outside the Kannada film industry with a budget of Rs 80 crore, has grossed over Rs 230 crore. The Kannada film industry got the first 100 crore and 200 crore film. It is estimated that the film collected at least 20 times the amount that Rights sold in other languages. Later, the film and Rocky Bhai became popular through TV premieres and the OTT platform.
Therefore, when the second part KGF: chapter 2 arrives, the expectations are high.
Neel retained the technicians from its predecessor with Bhuvan Gowda handling the cinematography and Ravi Basrur scoring the music for the soundtrack and the film’s background. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 14 April 2022 in Kannada along with the dubbed versions of Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
KGF:Chapter 2 already set a benchmark for movies in terms of production value, number of shooting days and the release. With the two distinct trailers and a number of promos along with some fearless promotions across the country, KGF:Chapter 2 has created all the hype and expectations.
KGF:Chapter 1 debuted in hindi with a minimal hype and astonished the industry. With the arrival of KGF in the Hindi belts, Shahid Kapoor‘s Jersey, which was scheduled to release on April 14, was pulled out at the last minute .Jersey’s withdrawal was due to the advance booking rampage of KGf: chapter 2.
KGF: Chapter 2 is expected to be a big hit in the Kannada film industry but,Vijay’s Beast may be the challenge for KGF:Chapter2 in Tamil and Malayalam circuits.The Telugu theater business has gone in line with the Tollywood Star hero movies,so there is no big competetion in telugu market.Trade expects a first day collection of over Rs 100 crore and estimate that the film will gross over Rs 800 crore if the audience response is positive.
