Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse is a Malayalam-language mystery comedy film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, in his Malayalam debut, and produced by Mammootty Kampany. The film stars Mammootty in the titular role, alongside Gokul Suresh, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu and Viji Venkatesh. The film revolves around Dominic, a sharp but disgraced ex-cop, nice guy, who knows all the right moves and is now a detective, takes on a simple job to find the owner of a purse. This quickly spirals into a gripping mystery of missing people, murder, a stalker, and an enigmatic dancer named Nandhita.

Dominic and the ladie’s purse, latest film from acclaimed director Gautam Vasudev Menon, and I must say that I have mixed feelings about it. While Menon’s films are typically known for their exceptional music, captivating background scores, and technical excellence, this particular movie fell short in these areas.

The music and background score, which are usually highlights of a Menon film, were surprisingly average. The technical aspects, too, lacked the richness and depth that we’ve come to expect from this director. It was a rare misstep for Menon, and it left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed.

However, the film did have its moments. Some of the one-liners were genuinely funny and managed to tickle my funny bone. The cast delivered strong performances, bringing their characters to life with conviction and charm.

But what truly saved the day was the film’s final 30 minutes. The climax was expertly crafted, with a narrative twist that caught me off guard and left me feeling satisfied. It was a masterclass in storytelling, and it reminded me why Menon is considered one of the best in the business.

Overall, while this film may not be Menon’s best work, it’s still a watchable flick. With its engaging dialogue, strong performances, and thrilling climax, it’s a movie that will keep you entertained and invested until the very end.

Bottomline

The last 30 minutes saved the day!
