Barroz is a Malayalam-language fantasy film directed by Mohanlal, in his directorial debut, and produced by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas. The film stars Mohanlal in the titular role, alongside Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Nerea Camacho and Tuhin Menon.
Mohanlal’s directorial debut, “Barroz”, had all the makings of a blockbuster fantasy drama. Unfortunately, the film fails to deliver on its promise, succumbing to poor casting, sluggish pacing, and cringe-worthy dialogues.
The narrative plods along at a snail’s pace, testing the viewer’s patience. The casting choices are baffling, with actors struggling to bring depth to their underwritten characters. The dialogues, reminiscent of stage drama, come across as over-the-top and melodramatic.
The only redeeming factor of “Barroz” is its impressive 3D effects. The film’s visuals are undoubtedly stunning, providing a fleeting glimpse into the world that could have been. However, even the most dazzling special effects cannot compensate for the movie’s fundamental flaws.
Overall, “Barroz” is a disappointing watch, failing to leave a lasting impression. Despite its ambitious intentions, the film’s poor execution and lackluster storytelling make it a skippable affair.
Bottomline
Barroz” Falls Flat: A Disappointing Fantasy Drama!!
