Appan is a malayalam language drama co-written and directed by Maju and jointly produced by sunny wayne, Josekutty Madathil, and Ranjith Manambarakkat under the banners of Sunny Wayne Productions and Tiny Hands Productions. The film stars Wayne with Ananya,Alancier and Grace antony featuring in major supporting roles. The cinematography of Appan was done by pappu and was edited by Kiran das. The soundtrack was composed by Dawn Vincent.
What works
Malayalam cinema is once again rocking with its complex story premise, realistic approach and extraordinary character creations, And another golden feather for Sony Liv.That is director Maju‘s Appan. The film is also rich in extraordinary performances by the stars, such performances elevate the film to another level.
Appan witnessed the best performances of Sunny Wayne, Alencier and Pauly valsan in their career. Ananya – Grace Antony duos measured performances are also seen in Appan. Pappu‘s Visuals and Dawn antony‘s music bring the film close to the story, confined to one location. The director Maju‘s realistic approach and the comedy worked out in the situation make Appan even stronger.
What not works
The fluctuating emotional balance and predictable nature hold the film back. It is also worth noting that the film loses its wow factor towards the climax.
