Indian cinema is familiar with spy thrillers, one after the other. Every film in this genre has the same pattern and formula, but the films that satisfy the audience both story-wise and making-wise are successful. Mammootty – Akhil-Dino Morea starrer Agent is a movie in the spy genre.
Agent is a work of art where everything it touches is mystified. The characterization reserved for hero characterization specialist director Surendra Reddy for Akhil has backfired. Scenes and situations evolve into comedy when unpredictability is emphasised in a story that has no place for logic or brilliance. The agent reminds us that when presenting a hero in wild mode, content and execution are more important than just six packs and guns. Unnecessary songs, unimportant family, heroine characters, illogical action scenesβthe movie is tragically broken on every level.
