Adi is a Malayalam-language film, directed by Prasobh vijayan under the banner Wayfarer films. Starring Shine tom chacko, Ahaana, Dhruvan etc.

I don’t think I’d be ruining anything if I said Adi is a social dialogue between a man and a woman. However, the emotion in both cases is distinct. A series of high-pressure scenarios puts a man’s ego and struggle for his wife to the test, causing every man in the audience to reconsider their viewpoints on many hard problems.

Filmmakers have previously examined emotion by placing their heroes in more intricate situations than anything else in the film. Every male in the crowd is asked, “What would you do if you were in his shoes?”

The film excels at mood creation, especially during the pivotal car scene, where you may have predicted what happens in the next frame, but the staging and the editing compensate for it whilst increasing your anticipation. The thin plot is very well thickened fast-paced screenplay and the visceral performances.

Adi is helped by the scene-stealing performances of Shine and Dhruvan, particularly the latter. Shine has always struck me as an underappreciated performer who did not receive the roles he deserved. I’m delighted he got a character who reflects the performer in him. Shine is a revelation as a hero.

With only a few lines, Ahaana Krishna Kumar manages to be pretty effective. She’s also making a strong impact as the heroine. Shine, Dhruvan, and Ahaana have an explosive, clap-worthy moment near the climax of the film. What I liked best about this film is that it doesn’t choose sides and instead portrays patriarchy everywhere, providing a cathartic and unexpected ending.

Dhruvan gives a thrilling performance as the man who holds the couple hostage. Govind vasanth’s The background score doesn’t attempt to oversell the moments or emotions, but it aids in the haunting mood of the film. Songs are refreshing, and visuals make them more appealing.

Bottomline

Adi, that raises relevant questions..
