Kushi is a Telugu-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Shiva Nirvana. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, it stars Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
What works
The makers of Kushi can only thank Hesham’s blockbuster album. The blockbuster album itself played a major role in getting attention before the release of the film. Especially as a film about the Vijay Devarakonda-Samantha pair, who are reeling from continuous failures. Not only did Hesham succeed in giving the film the vibe it demanded, but his magic was evident in creating a heart-pounding backdrop for the emotional scenes. especially the climax portions. Murali’s camera and Shiva Nirvana’s romantic family track are the movie’s saving graces. Vijay Devarkonda has done well in performances, but it’s not good as Sachin Khadedkar- Murali Sharma combo.Ā The duo’s performance in connecting the audience with the climax scenes keeps the movie’s flaws intact. The Jayaram – Rohini track was also one of the best parts of the movie.
What doesn’t work
Not only was Praveen Podi’s editing department a failure, but if more than half an hour had been cut, the result of the film would have been different. Song placement and unwanted action scenes and situations make the movie more draggy. Peter Hein’s action scenes were good, but the film didn’t deliver any merit. Samantha’s performance also remains a question mark. Khushi offers the obvious without even going as far as Samantha of yesteryear performances.
Bottomline
Entertaining but unwanted action and situations make the movie drag in parts.A blockbuster album helps a lot to save grace.
