Freddy is a Hindi-language psychological thriller film directed by Shashanka Ghosh and written by Parveez Sheikh. The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, NH Studioz and Northern Lights Film. It stars Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F.

What works

Freddy sets out to be a psychological thriller, and it has a lot going for it right from the start. Kartik Aaryan, the film’s lead actor, bears the entire burden of making Freddy this dark, unpredictable character.
Freddy’s insanity is balanced by Alaya F‘s charming personality. Kainaaz’s character has more twists and turns than Freddy’s, which is what makes her so interesting. Writer Parveez sheikh and director Shashanka Ghosh ,balanced the script with twist and turns in regular intervals, the much needed high points to a thriller.

In the performance department, Kartik Aaryan should pat himself on his back for a superlative act; he’s a powerhouse. This young-actor should also be lauded for raising the bar in his choice of films and roles, unlike many of his contemporaries who neither have the inclination nor the capacity to move away from the ‘mould’ they have been typecast in.

Alaya F, she is effortless in her part, looks lovely and sits pretty in her hooker act, going from coy to brazen like a pro.

Pritam‘s music is decent. ‘Kaala Jaadu’ is haunting and its tune is also like the theme of the film. ‘Tum Jo Milo’ is well-placed. Clinton Cerejo‘s background score enhances the thrill quotient. Ayananka Bose‘s cinematography is good. Adita Bali‘s production design is apt for the film.

What doesn’t work

The film is predictable in many situations and the film often slips away from the dark mood. Dialogues are also not up to standard. important characters Rustom, Kainaz and scheff had no detailed background or clarity. The climax didn’t end on a high point but gave a decent feel.
