Devara: Part 1 is a Telugu-language action drama film directed by Koratala Siva and jointly produced by Yuvasudha Arts and N. T. R. Arts. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr in dual roles, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in their first Telugu film. Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, Kalaiyarasan and Murali Sharma appear in supporting roles.

Director Koratala Siva’s strength lies in crafting socially relevant films with a message, which is evident in Mirchi, Srimanthudu, Bharat Ane Nenu, and Janatha Garage. This skill shines in Devara’s first half, which impresses with its unconventional approach. Convincing dialogues and well-reasoned plot points make the narrative engaging.

However, the second half succumbs to predictable twists, mirroring the “Second Half Curse” afflicting recent South Indian biggies. The unnecessary heroine track further drags the film, unnecessary sequel twist leading to an incomplete and unexciting climax.Saif Ali Khan is underutilized as a stereotypical villain, leaving much to be desired. Janhvi kapoor is also underutilized and rather than the ‘Chuttamalle’ song ,she included in 4-5 scenes in the whole film.

Ultimately, Devara relies heavily on Junior NTR’s performance and the Anirudh ‘s music. Terrific action blocks and Rathna velu’s camera eyes gives more support and make it watchable.but still Devara misses the pan Indian appeal..

Bottomline

Overall, Devara falls short of expectations despite Junior NTR’s strong performance and memorable music.

One time watchable!!
